Two one-day training sessions on “Environmentally Sustainable Tourism Practices” and “Tourism-related Environmental Crime Prevention and Control” were successfully completed on September 18 and 19, 2024, in Pokhara. The events, organized by the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) and coordinated by TAAN Gandaki with support from USAID Biodiversity (Jal Jangal), saw active participation from 107 attendees, including women, Dalit, Janajati, and LGBTIQ community members.
The closing ceremony, held at Bar Pipal Resort, was attended by Hon’ble Mitra Lal Basyal, Minister for Industry and Tourism of Gandaki Province, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included TAAN General Secretary Mr. Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, leaders from various tourism associations, and USAID Biodiversity representatives. Participants received Training Completion Certificates during the ceremony. CEO of TAAN, Mr. Ram Chandra Sedai, extended heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders involved.
The training emphasized the need for sustainable tourism practices and reinforced Gandaki Province’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and eco-friendly tourism development.
