Kathmandu – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that climate change is the greatest challenge of our time.
Addressing the inaugural session of the ‘Sagarmatha Dialogue (Sagarmatha Sambaad)’ held in Kathmandu on Friday, Prime Minister Oli expressed concern that although Nepal has contributed very little to the causes of climate change, the country is among the most affected.
He remarked that climate change is no longer a distant threat but a present and pressing crisis impacting the Earth, its people, and global prosperity. “No society is completely safe from climate change,” he said. “This is the biggest challenge of our era.”

“We are not primarily responsible for causing this crisis, but we are suffering its harshest consequences,” he added. “Glaciers are melting, rainfall patterns are becoming unpredictable, landslides are sweeping away homes, and floods and droughts strike suddenly. Yet, we continue to stand strong.”
The Prime Minister highlighted Nepal’s significant contribution to environmental conservation and emphasized that protecting the Himalayas is essential for the safety of the Earth, oceans, and humanity as a whole.
