Kathmandu – The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has expressed serious concern over the situation of tourists and support team members stranded in various locations due to heavy rainfall and landslides. TAAN is actively coordinating with the tourist police and relevant authorities to ensure the safety and rescue of those affected, particularly in areas like the Nagdhunga and Naubise sections.
TAAN has urged all trekking agencies to ensure that tourists and their support team members remain in safe locations and refrain from starting treks until the weather improves. According to TAAN, road services in some areas are expected to resume within an hour.
In case of emergency rescue needs, TAAN requests that agencies provide the number of stranded tourists and support team members, along with contact details, through the following numbers for swift coordination:
- Sagar Pandey, President – 9851032036
- Karma Sherpa, Senior Vice President – 9851244428
- Bishnu Prasad Lamsal, First Vice President – 9851087391
- Sonam Gyalzen Sherpa, General Secretary – 9851078748
- Ram Chandra Sedhai, CEO – 9843687548
TAAN has also requested those facing difficulties due to floods or landslides in other trekking regions to contact the same numbers. The association is working closely with local authorities, government, and security forces to ensure the safety and rescue of stranded tourists and support teams across Nepal.
